Art Cafe was founded on simple principles. Create a warm, inviting space.  Make delicious food and perfect tea.  Invite community.  In 2009, owners Pi Pat and Pi Doe brought these ideas to life with the opening of Art Cafe, and have been happily serving the Phangan community ever since.  

 

The entire space was designed and built by Pi Doe, a renowned architect, whose vision was to integrate a cozy, cafe ambiance with the natural, organic beauty of the jungle.  The amazing selection of teas are curated by Pi Pat, who learned the art of tea with friends who ran a small tea shop on the island years ago. All of the details that make Art Cafe truly special - the extensive library of books, the artwork from around the world, and the hand-picked menu of scrumptious delicacies - are all contributions from members of our wonderful island community.  

 

Over the years, Art Cafe has served as a gathering point for performance, celebration, and learning.  From weekly lecture series on science and spirituality, to showings of independent films, to local musicians jamming and dancing at our annual anniversary celebration (come see us each July!), Art Cafe has become much more than just a tea shop.  We are continuously inspired by the amazing travelers, yogis, ex-pats, and locals who make this island such a treasure, and we are grateful for their support, and for the opportunity to support them in return.  Check out our bulletin boards to see what's happening at Art Cafe and around Koh Phangan.
